Description of key information

Key study: Based on the read-across approach from experimental data on analogue substance Wasox-VMAC2 (OECD Guideline 121, GLP study), the study is not technically feasible on EAC3 since it has an estimated half-life of < 1 hour at 25 ºC and it reacts with water as part of the eluent.

Supporting study: EPISuite v4.1 / KOCWIN v2.00 (US EPA). The soil adsorption coefficient (Koc) of EAC3 was calculated to be 85490 (log Koc= 4.932).

An experimental determination of the adsorption Coefficient Koc of analogue Wasox-VMAC2 using HPLC according to OECD 121 could not be performed because 1) the test substance rapidly degrades with a half-life time of <1 hour at 25 °C; and 2) the test substance is a mixture of several compounds and reacts with water as part of the eluent. Based on these results, the read-across approach was applied and the adsorption assay was determined to be not technically feasible on EAC3 since it is also hydrolytically unstable in water (estimated half-life < 1 hour at 25 ºC) and reacts with water as part of the eluent.
