Details on results:
In the test at 20 mg/l one beaker was found to have a mortality at 100%, compared to the others with a max of 1 out of 5 death. There is a suspicion that this beaker was poluted. Because of the unsertainty about the cause of the observed mortality at 20 mg/l it was decided to use the whole dataset. This result in a somehow conservative estimat of the toxicity of the substance.
Results with reference substance (positive control):
- Results with reference substance valid? Yes
The sensitivity of the animals was tested with 3,5 -dichlorphenol and calculation showed an LC50(48h) 1.27 mg/l. This is in between the normal findings (LC50: 0.5 -1.5 mg/l). The sensitivity of the animals is assessed to be normal.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
Mortality in controls < 10 %, oxygen > 60%, mortality with reference test within acceptable range: 0.5-1.5 mg/l
Conclusions:
The substance is found to have a LC50 (48h): 62.3 mg/l for Arcartia tonsa. (This is considered to be a very conservative result)
