Additional information

A melting point value of <0 °C is reported in online data sheet (ABCR 2007). The original reference was not available for review and no further information is available. The reliability of this result is not assignable. As the only measured data is reliability 4, a substance with similar structure has been chosen to read across from. A measured value of -129°C for the glass transition of trichlorooctylsilane is reported in a study conducted according to OECD test guideline 102 and in compliance with GLP. The branched hydrocarbon side chain of trichloro(2,4,4 -trimethylpentyl)silane is expected to increase the melting point a small amount compared to trichlorooctylsilane. Although the melting point is still expected to be below -20°C, and in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII the melting point study does not need to be conducted if this is the case.
