Additional information

Data from a stereo isomer - D, L, alpha Tocopherol - are available to evaluate the toxicity of alpha- Tocopherol against daphnia. The toxicity of D,L-alpha-Tocopherol towards Daphnia magna was investigated according to OECD Guideline 202 under GLP conditions (Maetzler, 2000). The measured 48h-EC50 was >23.5 mg/l.

The acute toxicity study is also for DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate to D. magna available: Toxicity was investigated in a static test system following German standard DIN 38412, part L11. The 48h EC0 was 500 mg/l and the 48h EC50 was >500 mg/l (BASF AG, 1988). The study was considered to be a supporting study.
