Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A Daphnia magna reproduction test of the test item Sodium methyl cocoyl taurate was conducted according to OECD 211 for 21 days under semi-static conditions (Noack, 2013). Test species was Daphnia magna STRAUS (Clone 5). Ten daphnids, individually held, were used per concentration level, and control. At test start the daphnids were 2 to 24 hours old. The renewal of the test solutions were three times per week. Nominal concentrations of Sodium methyl cocoyl taurate were selected as follows:  0.500, 1.00, 2.00, 4.00 and 8.00 mg/L. The concentrations of the test item Sodium methyl cocoyl taurate were analytically verified by LC-MS/MS. The main component (C12 part) was analytically verified. The measured concentrations at the start of the exposure intervals were in the range of 97 to 117 % of the nominal values. At the end of the exposure intervals (48 or 72 h), the measured concentrations were in the range of 92 to 108 % of the nominal values. This indicates, that the test item concentrations were successfully maintained for the duration of the test. Consequently, the results were based on nominal test concentrations. The NOEC and LOEC for reproduction after 21 days were calculated as 4 and 8 mg/L (nominal), respectively.
