Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In a static non-GLP study following the procedures of the German Industrial Standard DIN 38412, Part 15 using Leuciscus idus as test species a LC50 (96 h) of greater than 500 mg/L (nominal concentration) was determined (limit test; BASF AG, 1984; report no. 82/42). The test item concentrations were not analytically verified but are assumed to be stable regarding the substance's properties: low volatility, high water solubility, not significantly bioaccumulative, adsorption not expected.

The results of a non-GLP study according to Japanese Industrial Standard "JIS K 0102 - 1974 Item 55" with Oryzias latipes as test species support this finding. The fish were exposed under static conditions to two concentrations of the test substance (1000 and 2000 mg/L). No mortality occurred and no symptoms were detectable. The 96-h LC50 was determined to be greater than 2000 mg/L (BASF AG, 1984; report no. 84/216). The test item concentrations were not analytically verified but are assumed to be stable reagrding the substance's properties.

In conclusion, 4-morpholinecarbaldehyde is with high probability acutely not harmful to fish.
