Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

There was no available data for skin sensitisation for pentadecanol, branched and linear. Therefore, key information from a structurally related compound was read across for hazard decisions. For this purpose, data from tetradecanol was used.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
The key study for skin sensitisation was read across from a guideline study in guinea pig in tetradecanol (CAS 112-72-1). The study reports the test substance not to be sensitising (Iihama 1997; rel 1).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available information read across from a structural analogue, it is proposed here that 1 -pentadecanol does not require classification or labelling for sensitisation in accordance to current EU requirements.
