Additional information

Data are not available to allow the distribution of dibutyltin maleate within the environment to be modelled. However, the substance is highly insoluble in water (< 10 mg/L) and is also insoluble in organic solvents. A low LogKow (1.27) is reported in a published study, however this value is not completely reliable and must only be considered as indicative. EUSES 2.1 calculates a Koc of 47.9 ml/g (QSAR non-hydrophobics) using this LogPow. However, despite this and the low solubility in organic solvents, in the light of the substances low solubility it is considered that it is unlikely that it will be associated with water but primarily with soils or sediment. For the purpose of risk assessment a moderate sorption to soil/sediment has therefore been assumed and a Koc of 2000 ml/g has been used.
