Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for type of information:
This UVCB substance is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons. As it is also poorly water soluble and highly volatile substance, the testing is not technically feasible. The short-term study results conducted for this substance also indicated difficulties in testing. Based on these results it can be concluded that the WAF loading of about 100 mg/L was probably the maximum possible solubility of the test substance in water. Stimulation rather than toxicity was observed. For the purpose of hazard assessment, and the exposure assessment and risk characterisation, PNECs for representative hydrocarbon blocks were calculated with a modelling tool (PETRORISK, see CSR sections 9&10). The classification of the substance was derived based on the short-term toxicity results of the substance and the read-across data on similar fossil fuels. Based on the biodegradation read-across study the substance is regarded as readily biodegradable. In conclusion, CSA does not indicate the need for further testing since there is enough data to classify this substance as Aquatic Chronic Cat 2.
