2-ethyl-2-[[(1-oxoheptyl)oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bisheptanoate (CAS 78-16-0) is readily biodegradable according to a guideline study conducted in compliance with OECD 301 B (Ready Biodegradability: CO2 evolution test). After 29 days the substance was biodegraded by 85.3% (based on ThCO2). The study results indicate that the substance will be rapidly degraded in aquatic and terrestrial environments. Thus, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, column 2, 9.2.1.2. - 9.2.1.4., further simulation tests for water and sediment or soil biodegradation are not necessary.
