Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

For the terrestrial compartment four different studies representing three trophic levels are available.

Toxicity to soil macroorganisms

Two guideline terrestrial invertebrate studies are available, one acute toxicity study with the earthworm, Eisenia fetida, and one long-term study with the collembolan Folsomia candida. In the acute earthworm study (OECD 207), no mortalities were observed up to concentrations of 1000 mg/kg soil dw, therefore the NOEC was determined to be ≥1000 mg/kg soil bw. During the chronic collembolan study (OECD 232), no effect on adult survival was observed up to the highest test concentration (NOEC≥600 mg/kg soil dw). The number of juveniles was significantly reduced at concentrations of 185 mg/kg soil dw and higher, thus the NOEC for reproduction was determined to be 103 mg/kg dw and the corresponding EC10 was 195.6 mg/kg soil dw.

Toxicity to terrestrial plants

In a terrestrial plant study (OECD 208) no influence on emergence was observed resulting in an NOEC≥1000 mg/kg soil dw for all three species (Avena sativa, Brassica napus, Vicia sativa). For the endpoint of dry weight, the NOEC was determined to be 62.5 mg/kg soil dw, with Brassica napus (oilseed rape) being the most sensitive species. Effects on dry shoot length were also observed and the respective NOEC was determined to be 250 mg/kg soil dw.

Toxicity to soil microorganisms

No negative effects were detected in nitrifying microorganisms in a OECD 216 study. After 28 days the nitrate content was increased compared to controls. The NOEC was set to be <62.5 mg/kg soil dw. However since no adverse effects could be determined, the test item is considered to have no long-term adverse effects on nitrate formation in soil at concentrations up to and including 1000 mg test item/kg soil dw.

The overall NOEC for the terrestrial compartment is considered to be 62.5 mg/kg soil dw based on the terrestrial plant study (OECD 208).
