Additional information

Three acute studies covering three trophic levels have been conducted (fish, algae and daphnia) for 5-ethyl-1,3-dioxane-5-methanol. The L(E)C/50 values are provided below:

Fish (zebra fish) = >1000 mg/L

Daphnia = 2466 mg/L

Algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) = >1000 mg/L

In the chemical safety assessment performed according to Article 14(3) in connection with Annex I section 3 (Environmental Hazard Assessment) no hazard was identified. However to comply with the standard data requirement of REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, sections 9.1.6 and 9.1.5 further data needs to be generated on long term toxicity testing. Testing proposals for chronic fish and daphnia toxicity studies has been submitted in the section 6.1.2. and 6.1.4 respectively.
