Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Bioconcentration factors of 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one 1,1-dioxide was found to be 1.58 and 2.1 based on a water solubility of 4000 mg l-1 at 25°C and Log Pow of 0.91. This suggests bioconcentration in aquatic organisms is unlikely for the chemical 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one 1,1-dioxide.

By applying weight of evidence approach to the target substance 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one 1,1-dioxide,the endpoint value of bioaccumulation was found to vary between BCF = 1.58 to 6.38 in aquatic organisms /fish.Thus it is concluded that the test substance 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one 1,1-dioxide is not expected to bioaccumulate in the food chain because it does not exceed the BCF criteria of 2000.
