Additional information

SYN545192 was strongly adsorbed to all soils with the average KF and KFOC values ranging from 31.6-93.3 and 3172-4507 g/g, respectively. Calculation of the Freundlich co-efficient 1/n values (range 0.88-0.95) following the definitive adsorption isotherm experiments, indicated that the Freundlich equation adequately predicted the adsorption of SYN545192 to soil over the range of concentrations tested. The adsorption constants of the various soils were highly correlated to the organic carbon content of the soils. The increase in the Kd, KOC, KF and KFOC between the adsorption and desorption steps suggested that the adsorption of 14C labelled SYN545192 is not fully reversible in the five soils.

Using the McCall Classification scale to assess a chemical’s potential mobility in soil (based on its KOC), SYN545192 can be classified as having a “slight” potential mobility in Gartenacker and North Dakota soils and as being “immobile” in 18 Acres, Marsillargues and California soils.

The soil metabolite SYN546206 was strongly adsorbed to all soils. The calculated Freundlich coefficients (KF) ranged from 24.54 to 144.88, while the 1/n values ranged from 0.8862 to 0.9498. When corrected for the organic matter content of the soils, the resultant KFOC values ranged from 4385 to 6135. The partition coefficients Kd ranged 34.11 to 196.66 with the corresponding KOC of 5668 to 8527.

Using the McCall Classification scale to assess a chemical’s potential mobility in soil (based on its KFOC), SYN546206 can be classified as slightly mobile in Marsillargues and Gartenacker soils and immobile in all other soils.

Remark of the registrant: the robust study summaries of the study with metabolite SYN546206 (Melville S (2012). Adsorption and Desorption of 14C- SYN546206. Testing laboratory: Charles River, Tranent, Edinburgh, EH33 2NE, UK. Report no.: 32729. Owner company: Syngenta Crop Protection AG. Study number: 218928. Report date: 2012-04-12.) is not part of this IUCLID dossier. It is however available on request.
