CALCULATIONS:

ν= ct----------------------------------------- (i)

Where,ν= Kinematic viscosity

c= Viscometer constant

t= time of flow in seconds (Redwood second) For Redwood Viscometer- I, the values for the constants are as

below:

Time of flow, t

C

40 to 85 seconds

85 to 2000

ν=η/ρ------------------------------ (ii)

Where,ν= Kinematic viscosity

η= Dynamic viscosity

ρ= Density of fluid

1. Calculation of Kinematic Viscosities:

For Test Temperature at 20°C

ν=ct

= 413.6 × 0.247sec

= 102.1592 mm²/sec

For Test Temperature at 40°C

ν=ct

= 121.3 × 0.247sec

= 29.9611 mm²/sec

2. Calculation of Dynamic Viscosities:

For Test Temperature at 20°C

ν= η/ρ

102.1592 =η 0.9059

η = 102.1592 x 0.9059

= 92.546 mPa.S

For Test Temperature at 40°C

ν= η/ρ

29.9611 =η/ 0.9059

η = 29.9611 x 0.9059

= 27.1417 mPa.S

Conclusions:
Kinematic viscosity (experimental) of test chemical at 20°C and 40°C was determined to be 102.1592 mm²/sec & 29.9611 mm²/s and Dynamic viscosity of the test chemical was calculated to be 92.5460 mPa.S & 27.1417 mPa.S at 20°C and 40°C, respectively.
