Executive summary:

The flash point of the test item was determined according to the Method OPPTS 830.6315 "Flammability" of August 1996, UN Handbook "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Test and Criteria" Rev.5, 2009, Method 32.4 "Test methods used for determining flash point and viscosity" and Method A9 "Flash Point" of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440 /2008 of 30 May 2008.

The flash point was determined with the Pensky-martens apparatus uses the equilibrium method with closed cup and electrical ignition. The flash point is internally corrected to the standard pressure.

A pre-test for security was performed in the study " Determination of the boiling point of an aqueous solution of Reaction mass of N-[2-(2-Oxoimidazolidin-1-yl)ethyl]methacrylamide and methacrylic acid according to OECD 103 resp. EU A.2". There is no signs of dangerous reactions, foaming or polymerization after cooling down and no changes of the test item had been visible during this pre-test.

About 70 ml of the liquid test item were brought into the clean test vessel. Then the test vessel was set into the instrument and the instrument was started. A pre-Test was determined in approximation, using a high heating rate and attempt of ignition every 5 K. The temperature didn’t rise above 103.8 °C and boiling of the test item was observed,but no flash point could be found.

No flash point of an aqueous solution of the test item could be detected in the pre-test up to boiling of the test item at103.8 °C.
