Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
zinc bis(diethyldithiocarbamate)
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: bulk
Reference substance:
zinc bis(diethyldithiocarbamate)
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence

The test substance is considered to be not readily biodegradable based on read-across data. Even though substantial abiotic degradation is observed in a GLP-compliant hydrolysis study, according to OECD TG 111, the substance is still classified as 'vP (and P)'. No complete degradation profile could be derived (the only degradation product detected in the hydrolysis study was CS2) and the hydrolysis degradation rates are not consistent over the environmental pH range (pH 4 - pH 9).

Bioaccumulation

A kinetic BCF value of 20 L/kg was determined in an OECD 305-I study. Based on this information and a predicted log Kow of ≤ 4.5, the test substance is considered to be 'not B'.

Toxicity

Because an aquatic long-term NOEC value of 3.2 µg/L is available and the substance is classified as STOT RE 2, the substance is considered to be 'T'.
