A study was performed similarly to OECD Guideline 102 to determine the melting point of d-limonene using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and adiabatic calorimetry. Based on the read-across from the analogue substance d-limonene, l-limonene is concluded to have a melting temperature of 199.5 ± 0.5 K (DSC) and  199.18 ± 0.05 K (adiabatic calorimetry).

Key study: Read-across from analogue substance. Test method OECD 102. No data on GLP. Melting point of l-limonene is concluded to be -74 °C (199 K).

The key value is read-across to the enantiomer d-limonene using DSC and adiabatic calorimetry with accurate results of melting point (199.5 K and 199.18 K) and is supported by similar values (-74°C) from secondary literature on d-limonene and l-limonene.
