Additional information

Para-toluenesulfonamide (PTSA) is an almost odourless white organic crystalline solid.

The melting point of para toluene sulphonamide is 136.8 °C.

Boiling point: Degradation starts at 187°C.

The relative density is 1.358 .

Granulometry: Light microscopic examination revealed that the shape of the product is non-fibrous. By sieving 4.3 %m/m is < 100 µm.

The characteristics of the PSD of the fraction < 100 µm are: d10: 26µm, d50: 69µm and d90:123µm.

The estimated vapour pressure of p-Toluenesulfonamide is <0.000286 Pa at 20°C.

The measured partition coefficient log Kow value for para-toluenesulfonamide is 0.6.

The watersolubility of para-toluenesulfonamide is 3.1 g/L at 20°C and a pH=6.5.

The surface tension at a concentration of 1g/L and at 20 Degrees Celcius was 69.5 mN/m.

p-Toluenesulfonamide is non flammable, non explosive and is not considered as an oxidizing substance.

According to the criteria in the UN Standard aqueous PTSA should be classified as non-corrosive.

Toluene-4-sulphonamide shall not be considered for classification as self-reactive substance according to EC Regulation No 1271/2008 (CLP).
