Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a Zahn-Wellens test, the biodegradation rate of 3-HNA reached 85% after 28 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
inherently biodegradable

Additional information

The tests on biodegradability were conducted with the structural analogon of 6 -HNA, 3 -HNA. As the only difference between both substances is the position of the OH-group, and as it can be assumed that this difference does not have any influence on the biodegradability, it can be assumed that 6 -HNA is inherently biodegradable as well.
