First-aid measures

General considerations: Immediately remove clothing contaminated with substance.

Take care of the following instructions:

- After Inhalation: In case of unconsciousness bedding and transportation in recovery position. Supply affected person with fresh air and lay down smooth

- After skin contact: Wash skin immediately with plenty of water and soap and rinse thoroughly. In case of continuing sensitation of skin consult doctor

- After eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with running water for several minutes, keeping eyelids open. In case of continuing discomfort consult doctor

- After swallowing: Do not induce vomiting, immediately seek for medical help

Fire-fighting measures

Appropriate extinguishing devices: Small fire: CO2, dry powder or water spray. Fight large fire with water spray or alcohol stable foam.

For safety reasons inappropriate extinguishing devices: full jet of water.

Particular hazards by substance, respective combustion products or resulting gases:

- Formation of toxic gases due to heating or in case of fire.

- Acetic acid.

- In case of fire formation of Chromium(VI) is possible.

- Carbon mono- and dioxide.

- Toxic metal oxide fume.

Special protective equipment: use breathing apparatus.

Further information:

Cool endangered containers with water spray.

Collect contaminated fire water separately, must not reach canalisation.

Residues of fire and contaminated fire water must be disposed according to authorities' provision

Accidental release measures

Preventive measures related to individuals:

- use breathing apparatus

- seek shelter for individuals

- use personal protective equipment. Keep unprotected individuals away.

Measures related to the environment:

- In case of reaching bodies of waters or canalisation inform responsible authorities.

- Do not let reach canalisation, bodies of water, groundwater.

- Contain gases, vapour, fog with waterspray

Techniques for cleaning and gathering:

- After spillage gather mechanically and avoid formation of dust.

- Clean scene of accident carefully; appropriate: water.

- Dispose gathered material according to provisions.

- Contaminated material must be disposed as waste according to EAK-waste keys

Additional details:

- in case of fire formation of Chromium(VI) is possible

- Consider information on handling and storage

- Consider information on personal protective equipment

- Consider information on disposal

Handling and storage

Details on safe handling:

- Avoid formation of inhalable particles

- Avoid formation of dust

- Regularly gather dusts, the formation of which is not avoid

- Use industry vacuum cleaner or central suction unit to gather dusts

- Cool and dry storing in closed containers

Details on fire and explosion prevention:

- Keep breathing apparatus ready

Details on storage:

Requirements for storage rooms and containers:

- Use only container, which are especially registered for the substance/product

Details on storage with other substances:

- Do not store together with oxidising or acid substances

- Do not store together with food

- Do not store together with water

Further details on storage conditions:

- Keep containers tightly closed

- Protect against humidity and water

- Substance is hygroscopic

Storage class: 13

Additional details: Valid lists at the time of compilation served as basis

General protection- and hygiene measures:

- Keep away from food, drinks and feeding stuff

- Remove dirty and soaked clothing

- Wash hands during breaks and after work

- Avoid contact with eyes and skin

Respiratory protection:

- During short-term or low exposition use respirator; in case of intensive and long-term exposition use air circulation independent breathing apparatus

Hand protection:

- Check protective gloves before use

- Material gloves are made of must be impermeable and stable against substance/product/formulation

- Choice of gloves according to break through times, penetration rates, and degradation

- Preventive protection of skin by use of skin protection agent is recommended

Material of gloves:

- Choice of proper gloves is depending not only from material, but also from further quality criteria depending on manufacturer

- EN 388: minimum requirement performance level 1 for all groups

- Butyl rubber

- Nitrile rubber

- Recommended thickness of material: ≥ 0.35 mm

Penetration time of glove material:

- EN 420: minimum requirement performance level 1 for all groups

- Precise perforation time can be obtained from manufacturer and is to be kept

Gloves made out of the following material are inappropriate:

- gloves made out of leather

- gloves made out of thick cloth

Eye protection:

- tight fitting goggles

Body protection:

- Personal protective equipment

Stability and reactivity

Thermic decomposition / avoidable conditions:

- No thermic decomposition in case of proper use

- Do not overheat to avoid thermic decomposition

Dangerous reactions: reactions with oxidants

Dangerous decomposition products:

- Carbon mono- and dioxide

- Acetic acid

- Chromium (VI) compounds

- Metal oxide fume

Disposal considerations

Recommendation: disposal according to authorities' provision

Waste key number:

Disposal must follow legal provisions. Depending on sector and processes, EAK waste keys are assigned by waste producer and ways of disposal need to be chosen accordingly

Recommendation: Disposal according to authorities' provision
