Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Flash point = -4.5°C (experimental)
Flammability if contact with air or water is waived.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
highly flammable

Additional information

As the substance is a liquid, the relevant test for flammable properties is the flash point measurement. A reliable experimental study is presented under point 4.11.

Based on the chemical structure and experience, no flammable properties are anticipated if contact with air or water, therefore studies were deemed unnecessary.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the retained flash point value of -4.5°C, TFAE is classified as flammable (liquid) according to EU criteria:

- R11 following Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD), as below the threshold value 0°C, but boiling point (61°C, refer to 4.3) above 35°C;

- category 2 following Regulation N°1272/2008 (CLP), as below the threshold value of 23°C, and boiling point (61°C, refer to 4.3) above 35°C.
