Description of key information

The water solubility of the test item was determined according ISO-standard n°304-1985 and the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safty assessment, chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance. This procedure is necessary due to the fact that the test item is a surfactant.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1.923 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Due to the testing substance is a surfactant, the critical micelle concentration (CMC) was chosen for the determination of the water solubility. According to the guidance on information requirements and chemical saftey and chemical safty assessment, chapter R.7a, pp 77 and 107, it is prudent to take the CMC as a solubility limit. Water solubility is estimated by tensiometry, a classical method to determine the CMC of surfactants. The water solubility (critical micelle cincentration) in water is 1.923 +/- 0.235 g/L at 20°C.
