Description of key information

The lethal concentration (LC50) value of 2-aminobenzenesulphonic acid in fish [Pimephales promelas] in a 96 hr study on mortality effect was estimated to be 193.4513 mg/L . Thus,considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance , it is concluded that 2-aminobenzenesulphonic acid  does not exhibit short term toxicity to fish [Pimephales promelas].

Based on the studies summarized in the above table for the target substance 2-aminobenzenesulphonic acid and the read across substance, the endpoint value was found to vary between LC50 = 100.4 mg/L to 193.451mg/L in a 96 hrs and at 48 hrs. LC50 =480 mg/L; on the basis of mortality effect. Based on the above weight of evidence values, it is concluded that the test substance dose not qualifies for the aquatic toxicity.
