Description of key information

The information on the log Kow is sufficient for the PBT assessment, as the value is below the cut-off value of 4.5 used for screening. As the substance is not readily biodegradable and therefore already classified as a chronic hazard to the aquatic environment, the available information is also sufficient for classification and labelling. For the chemical safety assessment, the bioconcentration factor (BCF) for aquatic/sediment organisms is estimated using the Veith relationship which is also incorporated in EUSES and which is applicable for substances with a log Kow up to 6: log BCF = 0.85 log Kow - 0.70. With a log Kow value of 3.14, the predicted BCF is 93.1 L/kg ww. Using this predicted BCF, the chemical safety assessment does not show a need for further refinement. Therefore, the available information is deemed sufficient for the PBT assessment, classification and labelling and the chemical safety assessment.
