The results from the read-across approach are expressed on the basis of the amount of MPKO generated from the hydrolysis reaction of OS1600 and their molecular weights. The amount of MPKO was estimated using the assumption that 1 mole of the target substance OS1600 produces 3 moles of MPKO. No other adaptions are necessary.
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- not applicable
- Conclusions:
- Based on the read-across approach from the analogue MPKO, the 96h-EC50 of OS1600 in Rainbow trout was determined to be >113 mg/L. The NOEC was 113 mg/L since no mortality or signs of toxicity were observed for 96 hours.
- Executive summary:
A Fish, acute toxicity test was performed on the analogue substance MPKO in accordance with OECD Guideline 203. Based on the preliminary range finding test, a limit test was conducted. Ten Rainbow trouts were exposed to 0 (control) and 100 mg/L test item for 96 hours under static conditions and gentle aeration. Validity criteria were fulfilled. There were no mortalities or symptoms of toxicity observed during the exposure period of 96 hours in either the control or test concentration. Therefore the 96h-LC50 was determined to be >100 mg/L. Based directly on the test observations the 96h-NOEC was determined to be 100 mg/L and the 96 hour LOEC was >100 mg/L. Based on these results, the read-across was appleid and the 96h-EC50 and 96h NOEC of OS1600 in Rainbow trout was determined to be >113 mg/L.

Additional information
Key study: Read-across approach from experimental data on the analogue substance MPKO: A short-term toxicity test on fish was performed according to the OECD Guideline 203 (GLP study). Based on the read-across approach from the experimental data obtained with the analogue substance MPKO, the hydrolysis product of OS1600 (96h-LC50 in Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) > 100 mg/L and the 96h-NOEC = 100 mg/L), the 96h-LC50 for OS1600 was determined to be >113 mg/L and 96h-NOEC = 113 mg/L for fish.
