Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Bioaccumulation:

QSAR estimations are available revealing a Log Kow of 11.83. The value indicates potential for bioaccumulation. In the following the assessment of the bioaccumulation potential Amines, tri-C8-10-alkyl will be based on a worst-case log Kow of 11.83. Estimations of the BCF were performed with three different models. The results are evaluated in a weight-of-evidence approach.

A BCF calculation using the CATALOGIC v.5.11.9 BCF base-line model vs.2.05 is available for Amines, tri-C8-10-alkyl (CAS: 68814-95-9). The BCF model calculates the BCF implicating the estimated log Kow value of 11.83. Furthermore, the influence of mitigating factors like ionization of the molecule, water solubility, size and metabolism are also considered by the model. Taking into account these mitigating factors the BCF is reduced to 7.43 (log BCF = 0.871).

For molecular size a cut-off value is discussed in the literature indicating a limited bioaccumulation potential. The PBT working group on hazardous substances discussed a maximum diameter of > 17.4 Å (Comber et al., 2006).The DiamMax-Average of the test item is determined to be 20.35 Å depending on its conformation.

EPISuite v4.1/BCFBAFv3.01: The BCF was estimated to be 14.6 L/kg based on the regression-based method and the BCF estimation based on Arnot-Gobas upper trophic predict a BCF of 193 L/kg. Metabolism in fish was predicted to produce 4 types of primary metabolites. A biotransformation half-life of 52 days was estimated for a fish of 10 g wet weight.

Furthermore, the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chap. R11 PBT Assessment indicates that substances with a modeled Log Kow of > 10 are assumed to have a limited bioaccumulation potential.

CONCLUSIONS

Based on the results from Catalogic , BCFBAF and the information given the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chap. R11 PBT Assessment , it is concluded that the substance is not significantly bioaccumulative.
