Short-term toxicity to fish:

The acute toxicity of the test substance (CAS 7128-64-5) was studied with Danio rerio in a static test according to an EC standard (European Communities L251, vol.27, C-0, 1984). The test substance concentrations were not analytically verified, but are assumed to be stable. The 96-h LC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L. No mortalities and no symptoms were observed (CIBA-GEIGY, 1990).

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

The toxicity of the compound was assessed in a GLP study according to OECD guideline 202. The test was conducted as a semi-static limit test with a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L as saturated solution. Due to the low water solubility of < 10 µg/L no analytical concentration control analysis was performed. At the saturated solution with a nominal loading of 100 mg/L of the test item no effects were observed in Daphnia magna. The E10/EL50 and EL100 were determined to be > 100 mg/L.

The second study on Daphnia magna was not considered to be valid due to the exposure time of only 24h and undissolved test material in all test concentrations.

Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

The toxicity of the compound was assessed ina GLP study according to OECD guideline 211. The study was conducted as semi-static test at a loading rate of 10 mg/L. After an exposure time of 22d no effects could be recorded. The NOEC was determined to be >= 10 mg/L.

Toxicity to aquatic algae:

The toxicity of the test item to aquatic algae was assessed in a GLP study according to OECD guideline 201. The study was conducted as limit test with a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L as saturated solution. Due to the very low water solubility of < 10 µg/L an analytical concentration control analysis could not be performed. The test item had no inhibitory effects on the growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. The ErC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L nominal loading rate (saturated solution).

Toxicity to microorganisms:

The microbial toxicity of the test substance (CAS 7128-64-5) was studied in a growth inhibition test used settled sludge as inoculum acc. to the method described in EEC L 133, p. 118f (1988). The 3h-EC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L and the 3h-EC20 was determined to be > 100 mg/L (CIBA-GEIGY, 1990).
