Description of key information

In a 28-day OECD 301A test under acclimated conditions, the substance 1,4-dimethylpiperazine showed to be readily biodegradable (> 90% biodegradation after 28 days).

In a study according to MITI (OECD 301C), the test substance showed to be not readily biodegradable. Only 5.6% biodegradation (DOC removal) was observed after 28 days. No inhibition of microbial activity was observed in any of the testing.

Further biotic degradation testing is not proposed as the chemical safety assessment indicates no need to investigate further the degradation of the substance.
