Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance, 1,2,3,6,-tetrahydro-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)phthalimide (product name: Imidol-6) is manufactured, stored and used in an entirely closed system. Even in case of leakage or accidental release, Imidol-6 would solidify instantaneously, because of its rapid temperature decline and low vapour pressure (melting point ca. +78° to 80°C), thus posing negligible risk of exposure. Nevertheless, standard protective equipment, gloves, goggles, safety shoes and helmet are used during manufacture and use, and opening of any quality samples for further processing/analysis is done under a fume hood. Operating system checks of the closed system have been implemented covering also accident prevention and waste management. Secondary containment is in place for accidental release prevention and in case of accident.
