Description of key information

In an OECD 301F test amyl cinnamic aldehyde was found to be readily biodegradable. As such, simulation testing for biodegradation in water, sediment and soil are not considered necessary under REACH guidelines.

A public domain study is also available which assesses the removal of the read-across substance hexyl cinnamic aldehyde in an STP with primary and secondary removal processes. It was found that the substance was 52.9% removed in primary waste water treatment and 99.4% removed when primary and secondary treatment was performed. As such, it is expected that there will be a similarly high degree of removal of amyl cinnamic aldehyde in the municipal STP.
