Description of key information

No data available. Considering all relevant information available, long-term toxicity for fish is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No long-term studies are available for 2-amino-1,3-propanediol (APD). Short-term studies available for fish, daphnia and algae, all indicate a low potential for aquatic toxicity. Furthermore, the substance is not expected to remain in the aquatic environment, since it is readily biodegradable. Bioaccumulation is unlikely due to the low log Kow value.

A NOEC value of 24 mg/L is available for algae and additionally, a long-term NOEC of 3.99 mg/L for daphnia has been determined for the structurally similar substance AEPD (CAS 115 -70 -8).

Based on this information and for reasons of animal welfare, long-term testing on fish is not proposed.
