Description of key information

The log kow of the registered substance has been determined as 2.4.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Using a method specifically developed for pigments ('ETAD-method'), the log kow of the registered substance PR 254 has been determined by the ratio of the solubilities in octanol (0.103 mg/L) and in water (0.0004 mg/L)

resulting in a value of 2.4.

In an additional reliable study, the log Kow could not be determined. It is therefore concluded that, because PR 254 has negligible solubility in n-octanol and water and as such, it can be considered to sediment out in a release into an aquatic environment. It would be more appropriate to consider the partition coefficient end-point meaningless and simply state that the test material does not become bio available if released accidentally.
