Description of key information

non flammable (fire point: 272 °C)
no pyrophoricity
no flammability on contact with water

not self-heating

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Based on flash point and boiling point the substance ethylene distearate (CAS 627-83-8) is a non flammable solid.

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected.

The substance does not demonstrate self-heating properties. It is a solid completely molten at 160 °C.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

Based on flash point and boiling point the test substance is a non flammable low melting solid.

Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.

Based on the fact that the substance is a solid completely molten at 160 °C, it is not self-heating.
