Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
June 15, 1992 - February 2, 1993
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
EU Method A.13 (Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. certificate)
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks on result:
no ignition within 5 minutes
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Based on an experiment performed in accordance with EC Guideline A.13 it was determined that the substance has no pyrophoric properties. Additionally, based on experience during handling of the substance, it is concluded that the substance does not ignite spontaneously in contact with water. Therefore the substance is also not flammable in contact with water.

Description of key information

The flashpoint of the substance was experimentally determined to be 179 degrees Celsius. The substance does not ignite spontaneously in contact with water and has no pyrophoric properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The flashpoint of the substance was experimentally determined to be 179 degrees Celsius.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the above mentioned results, classification for flammable according to CLP and DSD is not necessary.
