Description of key information

BCF has been estimated using a QSAR model, EPISUITE, developed by US EPA. In the model the biotransformation hallife is incorporated, this indicates a rather short half-life of the substance in organisms. The results of these calculations gave a BCF of 11.2 L/kg.

The bioaccumulation potential of Amines, N-(C18 unsaturated, alkyl) trimethylenedi-, ethoxylated (NLP) should according to the Technical guidance document on PBT assessment table C.1 -2, be low since the measured Log Kow using the slow stir method was 2.8 which is well below the limit of 4.5. However, this substance is considered a difficult substance when it comes to determine the partitioning coefficient. The calculated log Kow is 5.8. The discrepancy between the calculated and the measured values is most possibly caused by a difference in speciation, when the substance enters the environment it will be protonated and the bioaccumulation potential will thereby decrease. As a worst case the calculated log Kow was used for the calculation of the BCF. It was clearly demonstrated that even when using this worst-case approach that, Amines, N-(C18 unsaturated, alkyl) trimethylenedi-, ethoxylated (NLP) has a low potential to bioaccumulate.
