Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Short and long term toxicity to fish
One OECD 236 screening study is available which showed a 96h-LC50 of 11.3 mg/L (concentration corrected for instability over time as seen in the algae study). This result is supported by an acute fish result of an analogous substance (tert-butyl hydroperoxide, CAS 75-91-2). This substance has a 96h-LC50 for fish of 56.9 mg/L which is in the same order of magnitude as 1,1,3,3-Tetramethylbutyl hydroperoxide. The long-term toxicity to fish endpoint has been waived.
Short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
One OECD 202 GLP study with analytical monitoring is available which meets all the quality criteria. As the test substance did not remain stable during the test, the EC50 was calculated based on geometric mean values and the 48 h EC50 is 6.7 mg/L
Long term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
One OECD 211 GLP study with analytical monitoring is available which meetins all the quality criteria. As the test substance did not remain stableduring the test, the effect values were calculated based on time weighted average concentrations. The 21d-EC10 for reproduction is 0.37 mg/L (TWA).
Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
One OECD 201 GLP study with analytical monitoring is available which meets all the quality criteria. As the test substance did not remain stable
during the test, the effect values were calculated based on geometric mean values and they are: ErC10 (72h) of 2.9 mg/L and ErC50 of 5.6 mg/L.
Toxicity to microorganisms
One OECD 209 study is available. The EC50 of 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl hydroperoxide for activated sludge after 3 hours contact time is 138 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 53 and 327 mg/L. The EC10 of 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl hydroperoxide for activated sludge after 3 hours contact time is 33 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 4 and 78 mg/L.
