Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: IEC standard 79-4 "Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres, Part 4, Method of test for ignition temperature", 1975.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: DIN 51794 "Bestimmung der Zundtemperatur", January 1978.
GLP compliance:

Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Batch: 8191-34
- Purity: 97.8% (expressed as primary amine, % of total)
Key result
Auto-ignition temperature:
255 °C
Atm. press.:
>= 1 012.5 - <= 1 013.2 hPa
Remarks on result:
preliminary test

The lowest measured auto-ignition temperature of the submission substance was 257, 259 and 257°C at an injection volume of 125, 250 and 125 µL and a time lag of 40, 30 and 28 seconds in test 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Rounded down to the nearest 5°C this resulted in an auto-ignition temperature of 255 °C.

Conclusions:
The auto-ignition temperature of the substance was determined to be 255°C at 1013 hPa.

Description of key information

The auto-ignition temperature of the substance was determined in a GLP study according to test methods EC A.15, DIN 51794 and IEC standard 79-4 to be 255 °C at 1013 hPa (Van der Baan-Treur, 2003).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
255 °C
