Eleventh meeting of the Exchange Network on Exposure Scenarios (ENES 11)

Purpose

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) together with Cefic, Concawe, DUCC, Eurométaux, Fecc and Member States organised the 11th meeting of ENES on 23 and 24 November 2017 in Helsinki.

ENES aims to identify and promote good practices to improve information on safe use in the supply chain for chemicals.

Report of the meeting

Presentation

ENES11 provided hands-on exercises to better understand how the communication up and down the supply chain can work in practice. The exercises demonstrated how registrants can work with the harmonised and updated use maps prepared by downstream sectors. There was also the opportunity for formulating companies to try out how they can transform exposure scenarios received from their suppliers into meaningful information for their customers, supplied via the extended safety data sheet for the mixture. And finally there was an opportunity for the users of chemicals to provide feedback on examples of safe use information they may receive in future as attachments to the safety data sheets.

The ENES Coordination Group presented the draft work programme until 2020, inviting all participants to ask questions, to make proposals and/or to offer contributions. The programme aims to identify the remaining gaps in communication on safe use along the whole supply chain and work out solutions.
