The study was conducted following OPPTS 830.7200 and OECD guideline 102. The melting point of the test substance was determined to be -12.4°C by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) analysis.
Reference
All samples were sealed into aluminum pans for this study. The instrument calibration was verified prior to use by scanning a 2.237 mg indium standard at 10°C/min through the melting point. The instrument performance was evaluated using a 1.683 mg sample of phenacetin scanned at 0.5°C/min. A preliminary scan, at 10°C/min, of the test substance was done using 7.610 mg. In each analysis of the test substance the DSC was loaded with the sample at ambient temperature and then brought to -50°C to ensure the sample aliquot had frozen. The melting point was determined to be in the range of about -17°C. Next, 1.361 and 0.932 mg samples of the test substance were scanned at 0.5°C/min across the melting range of the material. The reported melting point is the average of the two determinations.
