Administrative data
First-aid measures
- Inhalation: Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Move to fresh air. Keep patient warm and at rest.
- Skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
- Eye contact: In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Call a physician or poison control center immediately.
- Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Rinse mouth.
Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable Extinguishing Media: water spray, carbon dioxide (CO2), foam, sand
- Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or resulting gases: hydrogen chloride (HCl), hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx)
- Protective equipment: In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. Use breathing apparatus.
- Additional information: Contain the spread of the fire-fighting media. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.
Accidental release measures
- Person-related safety precautions: Avoid contact with spilled product or contaminated surfaces. Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away.
- Measures for environmental protection: Do not discharge into the drains/surface water/groundwater.
- Measures for cleaning/collecting: Take up with absorbent material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth or a proprietary absorbent material). Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Personal precautions while handling the product:
- eye protection: safety glasses, in case of increased risk, also a face shield
- hand/skin/body protection: solvent-resistant gloves.
- Hygene measures:Keep working clothes separately. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday. Wash hands immediately after work, if necessary take a shower. Remove soiled and/or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again. Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt).
