Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Endpoint:
- partition coefficient
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 1994
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: Reliability rating was 1 because study was performed using the 92/69/EEC Method A.8 (HPLC) for octanol-water partition coefficient detemination. Study followed GLP and was well-documented.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
- Version / remarks:
- HPLC method
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- The partition coefficient (Kow) of the test substance was determined by the HPLC method according to EC Directive 92/69/EEC Method A.8. Reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) retention time data was measured for the test substance and were correlated with its log Kow using a calibration curve of Log Kow versus log retention time of seven reference standards with established log Kow values. Reference standards had known literature log Kow values ranging from 7.43 to 13.06. HPLC column used was a Vydac RP-C18 250 mm x 4.6 mm 5 micron column. Hewlett Packard 1090M HPLC instrument was coupled with photodiode array detector. Mobile solvent phase was 95:5 acetonitrile:water: flowrate was 1 mL/min.
- GLP compliance:
- yes
- Type of method:
- HPLC method
- Partition coefficient type:
- octanol-water
- Analytical method:
- high-performance liquid chromatography
- Type:
- log Pow
- Partition coefficient:
- >= 9.5 - <= 11
- Temp.:
- 25 °C
- Remarks on result:
- other: log Kow was 9.5 to 11 for the test substance
- Conclusions:
- Using the HPLC method, the log Kow of the test substance was determined to range from 9.5 to 11.0.
- Executive summary:
The log octanol-water partition coefficient (logKow) was 9.5 to 11 for the test substance.
