Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

FATTY ACIDS, C14 -18 AND C16 -18 -UNSATD., ZINC SALTS:

No freshwater plants toxicity data are available for Fatty acids, C14 – C18 and C16-18-unsatd., zinc salts. Read across to insoluble/ slightly soluble zinc substances is made, and the PNECs water as derived in the Chemical Safety Assessment of "Zinc" within the framework of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (see Appendix 1) are carried over to Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18 unsatd., zinc salts.

ZINC:

chronic NOEC for one multicellular algae species available (0.06mg Zn/l).

Additional supportive information on 4 higher aquatic plant species available; chronic NOEC >650µg Zn/l on all 4 species tested.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Only supporting data on inorganic zinc substances is available.

ZINC:

The EU risk assessment on zinc (ECB 2008) used one chronic NOEC on Cladophora glomerata in the PNEC database. Additional information on long term experiments on 4 higher aquatic plant species was used as supportive evidence, demonstrating the low sensitivity of this taxonomic group.
