Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

According to Annex VII of the REACH Regulation EC n. 1907/2006 the study does not need to be conducted if there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule or the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen and the calculated oxygen balance is less than –200; or the organic substance or a homogenous mixture of organic substances contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties, but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500 °C;

Azo compound contains Chemical groups associated with explosive properties indicated in Table R.7.1-28 of ECHA Guidance.

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties but the thermal behavior of the test item shows an exothermic peak starting from 280 °C but no decomposition energy was measured. Nevertheless, an old test (Dystar, 1990) is available and confirm the no explosive propreties concern.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), Section 2.1, the substance is not classified as explosive based on the thermal behavior
