First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice:
Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance
Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray
If symptoms persist, call a physician

Eye Contact:
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids
Keep eye wide open while rinsing
If symptoms persist, call a physician

Skin contact:
Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water removing all contaminated clothes and shoes
If symptoms persist, call a physician

Inhalation:
Move to fresh air
If not breathing, give artificial respiration
If symptoms persist, call a physician

Ingestion:
Do NOT induce vomiting
Rinse mouth
If symptoms persist, call a physician

Protection of first-aiders:
Use personal protective equipment

Most important symptoms/effects, acute and delayed

Eye Contact: Causes severe eye damage
Skin contact: May cause sensitisation by skin contact
Inhalation: Product dust may be irritating to eyes, skin and respiratory system.
Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:
Cool containers / tanks with water spray, Dry chemical, Foam, Carbon dioxide (CO 2)

Extinguishing Media Which Must not be Used for Safety Reasons:
Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases:
Heating or fire can release toxic gas
During processing, dust may form explosive mixture in air

Precautions for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Other information:
Cool containers / tanks with water spray
Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions:
Remove all sources of ignition
Heat, flames and sparks
Avoid creating dust
Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes
Ensure adequate ventilation
Use personal protective equipment

Environmental precautions

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas
Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Methods for containment:
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so
Prevent dust cloud
Methods for cleaning up:
Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustable absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid static electricity build up with connection to earth
Avoid creating dust
Avoid contact with skin and eyes
In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment
Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product
Wear personal protective equipment

Prevention of fire and explosion:
Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition
Avoid dust accumulation in enclosed space

Hygiene measures:
When using, do not eat, drink or smoke
Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Technical measures/Storage conditions:
Keep tightly closed in a dry and cool place
Keep away from heat
Protect from light
Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Occupational Exposure limits:
Dust safety masks are recommended when the dust concentration is more than 10 mg/m3

Engineering measures:
Apply technical measures to comply with the occupational exposure limits
When working in confined spaces (tanks, containers, etc.), ensure that there is a supply of air suitable for breathing and wear the recommended equipment

Personal protective equipment

General Information:
Use personal protective equipment in good condition.

Respiratory protection:
In case of insufficient ventilation wear suitable respiratory equipment
Effective dust mask
Type A/P2

Eye protection:
Safety glasses with side-shields

Skin and body protection:
Long sleeved clothing

Hand protection:
Rubber gloves

Environmental exposure controls: Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability

Stability:
Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid:
Heat, flames and sparks
Take precautionary measures against static charges.

Materials to avoid:
Strong oxidizing agents, Reducing agents

Hazardous decomposition products:
Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions, Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO 2), Zinc oxide, Zinc peroxide
