2,2-Dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl dibenzoate is an unreactive white or yellowish solid with mild odor and a melting point of 49 °C. It can be considered non inhalable, because it is a waxy solid with a very low vapor pressure of < 0.0001 hPa at 25 °C. In addition 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl dibenzoate is nearly insoluble in water (1.16 mg/l).

No compound related adverse effects are reported in a guideline compliant subacute toxicity study and developmental toxicity study up to the limit dose of 1000 mg/kg/day and, consequently, derivation of a DNEL is not required. 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl dibenzoate is not classified as irritating to skin and eyes and not sensitising.

Since 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl dibenzoate is a solid exposure above the general occupational dust value of 10 mg/m³ should be omitted.
