Additional information

In a study from Brooke et al. (1984) a 96h LC50 of 61 mg/l has been determined for the effects of furan on mortality of the freshwater fish Pimephales promelas, based on measured concentrations. Another short-term study reports a 48 h EC50 value of 71 mg/l on behaviour and equilibrium effects of furan on P. promelas (Call. et al. 1981, as cited in US EPA database). The Japanese Ministry of Environment (MoE, 2009) reports a 96 h LC50 value of >120 mg/L with Oryzias latipes.
