Description of key information

The skin corrosivity potential of the test substance was evaluated by measuring the relative cell viability in treated tissues after a 3- and 60-minute exposure to the test substance, following the protocol that is consistent with the OECD Test Guideline 431 “In Vitro Skin Corrosion: Human Skin Model Test”1. Based upon the results of this study, the test substance, BADGE MXDA (#42), is predicted to be a skin corrosive.

Justification for selection of skin irritation / corrosion endpoint:
The skin corrosivity potential of the test substance was evaluated by measuring the relative cell viability in treated tissues after a 3- and 60-minute exposure to the test substance, following the protocol that is consistent with the OECD Test Guideline 431 “In Vitro Skin Corrosion: Human Skin Model Test”1. Based upon the results of this study, the test substance, BADGE MXDA (#42), is predicted to be a skin corrosive.

Justification for selection of eye irritation endpoint:
Due to skin corrosivity result, eye irritation study was not conducted.

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: corrosive

Justification for classification or non-classification

This substance is classified as Skin Corrosive 1B and Eye Damage 1. H314: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. H318: Causes serious eye damage.
