Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Eyes: No first aid should be needed.
Emergency measure - Skin: No first aid should be needed.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: No first aid should be needed.
Fire-fighting measures
cool fire exposed containers.
Product arising from burning: Silica, carbon dioxides and traces of incompletely burned
carbon compounds, formaldehyde, hydrogen.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Suitable respiratory protection should be worn if the
products is used in large quantities, confined spaces.
Hand protection : Chemical protective gloves or gauntlets
should be worn and removed correctly to avoid skin
contamination.
Skin protection :Impervious overalls in circumstances where
significant skin can occur.
Hygiene measures : Exercise good industrial hygiene
practice. Wash after handling especially before eating,
drinking or smoking. Remove contaminated clothing
immediately.
Accidental release measures
or rivers by using sand, earth or other appropriate
barriers.
Determine the need to evacuate or isolate the area according
to the local emergency plan. Eliminate all possible sources
of ignition. Very large spills should be contained by
bunding, etc.. procedures. Mop, wipe or soak up with
absorbent material and place in a vented container. The
spilled product produces an extremely slippery surface.
Handling and storage
Local ventilation is recommended. Do not breathe vapours.
Storage: Store in a flameproof, well ventilated area. Electrostatic
charges may be generated during transfer of product from its
container. Ensure all equipment is electrically earthed.
Keep container tightly closed. This substance slowly evolves
hydrogen on storage.Keep only in a vented container in a
well ventilated area. Keep container closed and store away
from water or moisture.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Do not store in or use glass containers. Polyethylene
packaging is used so far.

Stability and reactivity
basic materials, many metals or metallic compounds and can
form explosive mixtures in air. Can react with strong
oxidising agents.
Chemical reaction with water: Hydrogen is liberated on contact with water.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: According to local regulations.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal of in accordance with local regulations.
