- Foam, AFFF
- Dry powder
Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons
- None.
Special exposure hazards in a fire
- Combustible material
- Heating can release hazardous gases.
- Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters
- Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
- Fire fighters must wear fire resistant personnel protective equipment.
- Wear chemical resistant oversuit
Other information
- Cool containers / tanks with water spray.
- Approach from upwind.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions
- wear personal protective measures:
- Approach from upwind.
- Isolate the area.
- Wear self-contained breathing apparatus in confined spaces, in cases where the oxygen level is depleted, or in case of significant emissions.
- Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.
- Keep away from Incompatible products.
Environmental precautions
- Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
- In case of accidental release or spill, immediately notify the appropriate authorities if required by Federal, State/Provincial and local laws and regulations.
Methods for cleaning up
- Dam up.
- Soak up with inert absorbent material.
- Prevent product from entering drains.
- Keep in properly labelled containers.
- Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
- Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4).
Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Processor/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.
Handling
- Used in closed system
- Handle small quantities under a lab hood.
- Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Use only equipment and materials which are compatible with the product.
- Keep away from Incompatible products.
- Preferably transfer by pump or gravity.
- For further information, please contact:
- Manufacturer, importer, supplier
Storage
- To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight.
- Store in original container.
- Keep container closed.
- Keep under inert gas.
- Keep in a bunded area.
Other information
- Keep away from fire, sparks and heated surfaces.
- To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.
- Wear adequate protective equipment
